I mean it. Everything.

Great vocal recordings don't happen by chance. They are the result of careful and detailed planning, and this starts well before anyone walks into the studio.

In this course we'll cover all of the technical aspects that you need to know, but more importantly we'll go on a deep dive into the psychology of a session - what to look out for, how you can use it to your advantage, and most importantly: Building The Cocoon™.

With a total of 25 lectures covering every aspect of vocal recording, this really is everything you need to know.

Customer Reviews

It’s vastly superior to most degree level music courses.

An astoundingly good course, the best I’ve seen in any area of music production. Every aspect of vocal recording is covered from pre-production of the song, studio setup, the recording itself and editing vocals. It is extremely clear and detailed, flows logically and is direct and to the point. An essential course for anyone recording vocals.

The points in the lectures are also illuminated by examples from Dom’s own real-world recording experience which drills the points home. The sections on recording backing vocals make points that have really helped me understand how to get the best possible BV’s, and with a depth and detail that has made me think about them in a new way in my own recordings.

It’s accelerated the quality of my vocal recordings already and I expect it to continue to, and a lot of the principles I can also apply to recording other instruments. I’ve come away from the course with a depth of understanding and practical steps that would have taken decades of experience to learn and that I’ve not found anywhere else. I cannot sing it’s praises highly enough! It’s vastly superior to most degree level music courses that I’ve seen lectures from.  - Sam H.

What Dom brings to the table is years of verifiably masterful experience

The Mix Consultancy titled this course "Everything You Need To Know About Recording Vocals," and I can assure you: that title is perfect. Whether you're a producer working in a studio with a rotating door of new clients or a self-producing, independent singer-songwriter just trying to get the most out of your vocals, this course will offer you the guidance and expertise you've come to love and expect from The Mix Consultancy. In taking this course, I was constantly engaged with Dom's personable and approachable teaching paradigm, his litany of exemplary and engrossing anecdotes, and his uncanny ability to identify obstacles in my own recording process of which I was previously unaware. What Dom brings to the table is years of verifiably masterful experience, and, let's just say, I'm very fortunate to have been at that table for the duration of this course. Like it or not, vocals are almost always the heart of the song, and having more confidence and knowledge about recording them will, ultimately, make for better songs. - Mike McG.
